Bowmanville – Open Centre – Clarington Centre

 

Paul Howitt at Durham Commercial Real Estate is marketing for lease a former Target location at the Clarington Centre on Hwy 2 in Bowmanville, a community just east of Oshawa.  Previously, discussions had been underway with Lowes to occupy the whole building, however, in late November, Lowes announced that it was pulling out of all Target locations still under negotiations.  The landlord is now redeveloping the 113,000 square foot location and it can be leased as one unit or in large format sizing starting at about 20,000 square feet.  There is a restriction on grocery, however most other uses are permitted.  Discussions are currently underway with indoor play centre operators who are attracted to the family oriented demographic makeup, high 24 foot ceilings and abundant growth of Bowmanville’s population.  About 40,900 people are living within a five kilometre radius of the site and the average household income in the area is about $107,900 per year.    A 61,400 square foot Loblaws anchors Clarington Centre and Cineplex, WalMart, Canadian Tire, Home Depot, Winners, Platinum Fitness, etc. are in the immediate area.
