Double by the End of 2018…….

The Copper Branch chain of quick casual vegan eateries expects to more than double its footprint by the end of the year.  Presently the four-year old concept operates 17 locations in Quebec and Ontario with several more confirmed. In Quebec, the Montreal-based company will open a unit at 3 Blvd. de Sardaigne in Candiac in the Spring and at Galeries d’Anjou in Montreal in the Summer.  In Ontario, openings are scheduled for the Spring at 180 Enterprise Blvd in Markham and 1140 Lansdowne St. West in Peterborough.  In the Summer, units will open at 2377 Durham Reg Hwy 2 in Bowmanville, 268 Princess St in Kingston and 246 Hays Blvd. in Oakville.  In the Fall, Copper Branch restaurants will open in Newmarket, at Heartland Town Centre in Mississauga and in Ottawa at the Constitution Square and the Ottawa Train Yards.  In addition, Copper Branch plans to enter the Western market this year with units in Calgary and Vancouver.  The chain is already looking ahead, with ten more locations in the works for 2019. Sites in Rimouski, St Jean-sur-Richelieu and in Montreal are already confirmed for 2019.  The Copper Branch concept features a wholesome, 100 percent plant-based menu designed for health-conscious time-strapped consumers.  The ever-evolving menu is inspired by various regional tastes and ranges from collard green wraps to shitake teriyaki burgers, power bowls and even vegan poutine, that incorporate fresh, local organic ingredients. The units also include a breakfast menu along with the sandwiches, wraps, burgers, chili and soups, etc. as well as desserts, smoothies, organic teas and fair trade organic coffees.  The chain is looking at growth in the larger regional malls, high streets, open centres, outlet centres, lifestyle centres, etc. The ideal spaces are 1250 to 2000 square feet in open-air centres and 450 to 1500 square feet in enclosed malls.  Tony Flanz at Think Retail is responsible for the real estate search in the larger reginal malls nationally and Corey Bessner and Matthew Krantzberg of Core Consultants Realty are handling the site selection in open centres and streets in Quebec.  Stephen Travers, the Area Developer for Alberta is handling the Alberta site selection.
