Fast Growing Industry…….

In 2008, business partners Don DiCostanzo and Terry Sherry launched Pedego Electric Bikes in Newport Beach in California.  The company produces fashionable and fun bikes that are much like a regular bicycle but with a quiet built-in electric motor to provide additional assistance.  The rider can pedal normally and use the motor to help out on hills, etc. or use the motor continually to make riding easier.  Today there are over 90 Pedego stores in 33 states.  Pedego stores are also in South Africa, Europe, Mexico and in Canada.  The Pedego stores in Canada opened in 2014 in Victoria and in Qualicum Beach in British Columbia.  Over the past weeks, the company has added six more Pedego dealer stores in Canada to bring the total stores in Canada to eight. The new stores include a location at 2774 W. 4th Ave. in Vancouver owned by Ann MacLennan and a unit at 15660 Oyama Rd, in Lake Country in B.C’s Okanagan Valley owned by Murray and Sheila Fraser and Daryl and Susan Frick.  The first Alberta unit owned by Cal Whiting opened in the Eau Claire Market at 200 Barclay Parade SW in Calgary.  In Ontario, Glen and Catherine Doe opened in the new Summit Park Centre on Rymal Rd. East in Hamilton, Allen Hussey opened a location at 47 William St. in Bobcaygeon in the Kawartha Lakes region and over the past weekend, Pat and Gillian Maloney opened a dealership at 39 Stanley St. in Bloomfield in Prince Edward County.   Mike Clyde, Owner of Pedego Electric Bikes Canada in Nelson, British Columbia,  is actively seeking operators across the country for the business model that can include sales, rentals and tours, accessories and service. Most of the stores are independently owned with no franchise fees or royalties and can operate in units of 1000 to 2000 square feet.
