Tomorrow, the fast-growing CANNABIS XPRESS is opening its fifth location. The 300 square foot unit opens at 5 Quinlan Dr. in Port Hope, a community located about 110 kilometres east of Toronto in Southern Ontario. Similar to its previous locations in Brampton, Uxbridge, Hillsdale and Wasaga Beach that have all opened since April, the unit features its new approach to cannabis retailing in which the store, patterned after the fast-food industry, features limited products to select from. An emphasis is placed on speed and convenience in a smaller, clean and convenient location. Owner Chris Jones has previously noted that the smaller stores enable the company to keep build-out costs low, labor costs low, speed up the time to build and open, plus provide better prices to customers with such a low-cost model. Expansion continues with a 250 square foot location at 39 Main St East in Ridgetown in Southwestern Ontario scheduled to open in September. Operating in highly visible units under 1000 square feet, CANNABIS XPRESS is concentrating on the underserved Ontario markets and plans call for another four locations this year and another ten to 15 stores operating in 2022. In addition, Jones notes that a search is also underway for a new real estate representative or company to handle the chain’s aggressive search.
