More by Mid-January………

In April 2021, veteran cannabis retailer Chris Jones opened the first CANNABIS XPRESS at 405 Veterans Dr at Wanless Dr. in Brampton.  A new approach to cannabis retailing and applying some of the features of the quick service restaurant industry, the new concept features limited product choices with an emphasis placed on speed and convenience in the smaller, clean and convenient locations.  Concentrating on the underserved Ontario markets, the company quickly added locations in Uxbridge, Hillsdale, Wasaga Beach, Port Hope and Ridgetown to end the year with six locations operating. Jones notes that by mid-January 2022, a 1200 square foot unit with about 400 feet of retail space at 237 Josephine St. in Wingham in Southwestern Ontario and the chain’s second Brampton location, a 564 square foot plaza location with about 200 square feet of retail area at 11670 Hurontario St., will open.  “We would have had all eight open this year, but licensing was delayed due to holidays,” he explained. CANNABIS XPRESS is planning to have 15 to 20 units open by the end of 2022 and a search continues in small-medium sized cities and towns across Ontario that have little or no competition in the area.  Highly visible units under 1,000 square feet are targeted.
