Calgary – Mixed Use – Verve
Michael Kehoe at Fairfield Commercial Real Estate is marketing for lease retail and restaurant space in the Verve tower in Calgary’s East Village. Verve is a 300,000-square foot, 25-storey, mixed use project by FRAM + Slokker that features shops and restaurants on the main level with 288 residential condos above. The two remaining retail/restaurants in the 13,000 square foot level include an 1850 square foot corner unit suitable for retail or restaurant use and a 2560 square foot on the Riff pedestrian zone that is targeted for restaurant use. Along with a south-facing patio on the pedestrian walkway, the unit offers open vaulted ceilings. The Riff is the pedestrian walkway that connects the East Village with downtown Calgary and the adjacent St. Patrick’s Island and Fort Calgary. The Rivers District in Calgary has been a place of gathering and celebration since its earliest times, when First Nations tribes met at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow rivers. Later, Fort Calgary was the heart of an emerging city as the railroad pushed through in the 1880’s. Today, East Village is a lively hub – home to hotels, restaurants, shops and thousand of new residents. Since 2007 the East Village district has gone through many improvements as part of the Rivers District Revitalization Plan being carried out by Calgary Municipal Land Corp. This includes $357-million of new infrastructure and development programs which CMLC says has helped bring in about $3-billion dollars of new commercial and residential development. The revamped Simmons Building, The National Music Centre the New Central Library and the VERVE mixed-use project bring life to the East Village.
