Sets Down in Edmonton…….

Jeff Young, the Chief Development Offices with Toronto-based Monarch & Misfits Inc. reports that the company has entered the Western Canada market with its first Sweet Jesus location.  The high end dessert concept has opened in a 394 square foot unit at the entrance to the food court in the Southgate Centre in Edmonton.  With the openings in the Toronto area earlier in the year, this brings the chain to nine permanent locations in Canada.   There are also three seasonal locations and a permanent unit in the Baltimore/Washington International Airport.   The specialty dessert concept features hand crafted, chef inspired soft serve ice cream in several flavours and a wide selection of toppings, signature hand-made milk shakes and an assortment of hot and cold beverages.  The chain is also confirmed to open several more locations including a second Edmonton location, in the West Edmonton Mall, in May and continues to target high profile street front units and kiosk sites in enclosed malls as well as some select markets including Yonge and Dundas in Toronto, Robson in downtown Vancouver, Whistler and Banff. The chain will enter the British Columbia market in July with a location in Metrotown in Burnaby.  The size required is in the 700 to 1200 square foot range and for future kiosk locations, about 200 square feet with additional off-site storage is required. The Sweet Jesus concept is also expanding in the United States and overseas in Dubai, India and Bangladesh under the Sweet Salvation banner.
