Scheduled to open in Jackson Square in Hamilton shortly, Mo’s Golden Pretzel is continuing its steady growth that may soon take it into the Manitoba market. With its opening in the Yonge Sheppard Centre in North Toronto in December, the specialty food concept has three units operating in greater Toronto. In addition to the confirmed Hamilton location, discussions are also underway for locations in North York, Midtown Toronto and in Winnipeg. Operating since Spring 2016, Mo’s Golden Pretzel specializes in a hand-rolled, made-to-order pretzel made from locally grown ingredients. The soft pretzels are available with sweet toppings such as caramel, cinnamon sugar, Nutella chocolate, etc. or with savory toppings such as parmesan, sesame, etc. The specialty food concept also offers some unique items including the Italian pretzel with cheese and Italian herbs, the Pretzel Dog, a pretzel-wrapped hot dog or the Cheese Stix, soft pretzel sticks filled with cheese. The franchise concept continues to source sites across the country and has retained Lindsay Hepburn and Elise Assaf at SRS Canada to handle the site selection. Non-food court locations in enclosed malls are targeted. The store front format will operate in 400 to 800 square foot units and a kiosk format requires 120 to 200 square feet. No ventilation is required but plumbing is necessary.
