Adele Henderson has just opened the Banff Oil & Vinegar Market at the Cascade Shops in Banff. The 1300 square foot specialty unit is on the second level and features specialty oils, balsamic vinegars, gourmet olives, homemade pastas, cheese and dining accessories.  Ms Henderson also operates the Bragg Creek Oil & Vinegar Market that opened early this year on Balsam Ave. in Bragg Creek, a community located about 19 miles west of Calgary. Last week, Ivanhoe Cambridge (514/841-7600) announced an investment of more than $60-million to optimize CrossIron Mills, its five year old centre in Rocky View County, north of Calgary, Alberta. The redevelopment will include the relocation and expansion of the existing food court to offer new leasable space in high traffic areas, space that is in high demand by retailers in the area, and will further strengthen the centre’s position in the region. The new food court will feature 16 vendors, up from the current 14, while increasing the number of seats from 1100 to 1300. The relocation of the food court will create 46,000 square feet of new retail space. “With greater Calgary’s tremendous population growth rate and high disposable income, we are capitalizing on the opportunity to expand CrossIron Mills to welcome more world-class premium outlet brands that are seeking a truly successful retail destination with a proven track record,” said John Scott, Senior Vice President, Development. Work is scheduled to begin in January 2015 and is expected to be completed in two phases, with Phase 1 opening in Spring 2016 and Phase 2 in Spring 2017….(August 18, 2014)

EDMONTON CAPITAL REGION – Northeast Edmonton – Open Centre

Cameron Development Corp. (780/424-8008) and partner AIMCo (780/392-3600) report that Cabela’shas opened its second outdoor sports and recreation store in Edmonton at the Manning Town Centre in North East Edmonton. In addition, a ten-screen Cineplex Odeon Theatre opened in the 75-acre project earlier in the Spring, joining Lowes, Marshalls, HomeSense, Sport Chek, The Shoe Company, Petland and Dollarama. Situated at the north east corner of Manning Dr. and 153rd Ave., space for large format retailers, junior box and CRU tenants are still available in the 800,000 square foot multiple-building project.
