The fast-growing VEG ER for Pets opened its first location in Canada last week at the SmartCentres Etobicoke in Toronto. The 5000 square foot end unit is adjacent to the new Paris Baguette in the 305,000 square foot Walmart Supercentre and Home Depot-anchored centre. Introduced in 2014 by veterinarian Dr David Bessler and David Glattstein in White Plains in New York, Veterinary Emergency Group/VEG is a network of 24/7 emergency veterinary hospitals dedicated to providing immediate, expert urgent care for pets of all kinds, from dogs and cats to small mammals, birds and reptiles. Open around the clock, including holidays, VEG ER ensures pet parents can call and speak directly with a veterinarian or walk in without an appointment whenever an emergency arises. Their approach emphasizes transparency, compassion, and involvement. Originally known as Veterinary Emergency Group, the organization rebranded to better reflect its mission as an Emergency Room for pets, while maintaining the same trusted veterinary expertise. With more than 120 hospitals across the United States and now in Canada, VEG ER combines comprehensive emergency and urgent care services with a customer-focused experience designed to reduce stress during critical moments.
With this addition, along with the recent relocation of the Mark’s location to the adjacent SmartCentres Etobicoke Index project, a 13,885 square foot former Mark’s unit is available. Across from Sherway Gardens, the end unit is adjacent to Best Buy in the 1.5-million square foot retail node at Hwy 427 and The Queensway. Over 32,000 people in more than 13,700 households are within a five-kilometre radius. The median age is about 40 years, and the average annual household income is over $121,700.
