Operating since the mid-1960s and under the Peavey Mart brand since 1974, the Red Deer, Alberta-based chain was designed to meet the needs of both urban and rural clientele, specializing in agriculture, farm and ranch, pet, work wear, lawn and garden, hardware, homesteading supplies, etc. The stores ranged in size from 10,000 to 35,000 square feet and were located from British Columbia to Nova Scotia. In early 2025, Peavey announced that it was closing its 90 stores due to low consumer confidence, increased operating costs and continued disruptions to its supply chain.
