Last week, Edmonton-based H&W Produce opened its eighth location in the plaza at 90 McKenney Ave. in central St Albert, a community located about 18-kilometres north of Edmonton. A grand opening for the 10,000 square foot store is scheduled for later in January. H&W Produce is a community-driven low price fresh fruits and vegetables that was introduced in mid-1999 on 34th Ave NW in Edmonton’s Millwood community. Launched by Richard Harrison, Gwen Harrison and Bedford Williams, the stores feature local, regional and imported produce at affordable pricing along with a large selection of grocery items, dairy, etc. With the exception of one location that opened in the Horizon Heights plaza in northeast Calgary in 2016, all of the stores are in the Edmonton region.
