L’OCCITANE Group is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its heritage brand, L’Occitane en Provence. Founded in 1976 by Olivier Baussan, L’Occitane en Provence is a French multinational retail chain specializing in premium beauty, skincare, body care, fragrance and wellness products that draw inspiration from the natural bounty and traditions of Provence in southern France. The brand emphasizes high-quality formulations made with sustainably sourced, traceable natural ingredients. The golden anniversary also marks a reinvention for L’Occitane en Provence, one where heritage meets modernity, reaffirming its roots, and its connection to the land, producers and artisans of Haute-Provence. This renewed focus ensures that L’Occitane en Provence’s legacy is not only preserved, but actively shared and re-imagined for the future. A certified B Corp company, L’Occitane operates a global network of over 3,000 boutiques in more than 90 countries alongside a strong eCommerce platform. In the late 1990s, the first L’Occitane en Provence store in Canada opened on Granville St in Vancouver and presently there are almost 50 stores in major malls and high traffic streets from British Columbia to Nova Scotia. In unique instances, L’Occitane will operate larger flagship stores though, the majority of the stores are in the 600 to 800 square foot range.
