In December, the South Korean luxury eyewear brand, Gentle Monster entered the Canadian market with its 5205 square foot uniquely designed flagship location at the Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto. Recognized globally for its bold, avant-garde sunglasses and eyeglasses that blend fashion with artistic design, Gentle Monster was introduced in Seoul in 2011 by Hankook Kim and currently has about 80 flagship stores in about 16 countries with the Toronto opening being part of its global expansion strategy. The company entered the North American market in early 2016 in New York City and presently, with the Toronto addition, there are eight flagship stores across North America.
