Later this week, multi-unit franchisee Sue Griffith opens her second Plato’s Closet in Alberta. The new unit is at 117 Jensen Dr. NE in Airdrie, the community just north of Calgary. Part of the Winmark Corp group of franchise companies, Plato’s Closet is chain of over 500 stores that feature name brand, gently used apparel and accessories for teens and twenty-something girls and guys. The concept was introduced in 1998 and in Canada for almost 20 years, the chain presently numbers about 45 locations across Canada with about six more openings coming soon in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Ontario, New Brinswick and Nova Scotia. The chain generally locates in 3000 to 5000 square foot street front locations and well as high traffic plazas and open regional centres that are anchored by mass merchandisers, grocery and/or Walmart along with fashion co-tenancies. In addition to a Plato’s Closet in Calgary, Ms Griffith also owns a Once Upon a Child franchise in Calgary that she has operated since 1999.
