Kettleman’s Bagels, the chain of Montreal-style bagel bakeries is seeking locations in Ottawa’s Barrhaven and Orleans communities for its new smaller concept that focuses on a bagel sandwich menu. The streamlined Kettlemans: The Sandwich Shop concept will operate in high traffic 500 to 1500 square foot locations, reports Brent Taylor with Brentcom Realty Corp who handles the Kettleman’s real estate requirements in the Greater Ottawa Region. Introduced in 1993 in The Glebe neighbourhood in Ottawa, the traditional Kettleman’s café restaurants feature the hand-rolled and plank-baked in a wood-burning oven. The restaurants operate in a deli café format, open 24 hours, seven day a week. Along with the fresh made bagels in a variety of flavors, the restaurants also operate in a sandwich shop format offering a selection of deli-style sandwiches, spreads, salads and baked treats, all made fresh with premium ingredients. Presently there are eight locations, four of which are in the Greater Ottawa Area, and with its accelerated franchise program and the addition of its new smaller satellite sandwich shops, the company is aiming for 100 locations in four years.
