Heats Up Cdn Plans…………

Following the opening of its first Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers in Winnipeg in Manitoba in June 2025, via a master franchise agreement with experienced Canadian operators Jim Werschler and Gregg Most of North 49 Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, and in Okotoks in Alberta in September 2025, with Alberta franchise owners, Ted Tomanik and local residents Brad and Tammy Gurr, the Wichita, Kansas-based quick casual restaurant chain has unveiled ambitious growth plans in Ontario and British Columbia. The brand aims to cater to the increasing demand for its cooked-to-order steakburgers, shoestring fries and signature frozen custard treats by opening new locations in cities like Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver and Victoria.  The North 49 Frozen Custard & Steakburgers agreement calls for three locations in Winnipeg, and the Alberta franchise owners have committed to opening an additional two locations.  Freddy’s is actively seeking qualified multi-unit Canadian franchise partners to kickstart development in major metropolitan and suburban markets, including Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver and Victoria.  Freddy’s restaurants will locate in a range of traditional street front and freestanding locations with drive-thrus as well as non-traditional units such as college campuses, food courts, airports, etc.  A typical inline unit is 2400 to 3000 square feet with seating for 50 to 120 people.
