Following the opening of a 1238 square foot restaurant at the White Oaks Mall in London in late January, the Toronto-based quick service smash burger brand RUDY is preparing to open a 1700 square foot end cap location at the Hyde Park Gate at Hyde Park Gate and Dundas St in North Oakville later in February. According to the Inside Halton local online news service, the franchisees are Tom Labenski, Nick Jago and Desraj Narine, partners who opened the RUDY location in Burlington in mid-2025. The Oakville location is the chain’s 14th location, all in Ontario. Introduced in 2016 by Luke McCann and the late Chris Simpson, RUDY is a simple burger chain celebrated for its classic, no-nonsense approach to burgers that has become a local favorite for its signature ‘Rude Dude’ smash burgers, crispy fries, and comfort-food vibe. In addition to the smashed cheeseburgers, the menu includes fried chicken sandwiches, fries and milkshakes, all made to order. The chain emphasizes quality ingredients, fresh preparation, and its classic diner atmosphere. Juan Angeles at The Behar Group Realty is handling the national site selection for the chain, initially focusing on the Ontario markets. The chain targets end caps and highly visible street front locations in the 1100 to 1800 square foot range with at least 18 feet of frontage. Locations with a drive-thru option require 1500 to 2000 square feet.
