In late-January, franchisees Kishor Jajmera and Hiral Patanvadia opened the first Wayback Burgers in Regina at 3750 Chuka Blvd., across from the new Acre21 shopping centre in the city’s southeast quadrant. It is the third Wayback Burger franchise for the partners, having opened their first and second locations in Saskatoon in April 2023 and October 2024. Introduced in Newark in Delaware in the early 1990s under the Jake’s Hamburgers brand, the quick casual concept was rebranded as Wayback Burgers in the early 2000s when it launched its expansion program. Today there are over 180 locations worldwide and more under development. In mid-2019, Wayback Burgers Canada opened its first location in Canada in Winnipeg and presently there are over 30 locations from British Columbia to New Brunswick. Featuring its cooked-to-order burgers, available as a single, classic double, triple and triple-triple along with rich, thick milkshakes made by hand, using only whole milk and hand-dipped ice cream, Wayback Burgers presents a nostalgic atmosphere that harkens back to a simpler place and time. The chain operates in 1500 to 1800 square foot units in high traffic street and plaza locations.
