Introduced in 2012 by entrepreneur Marie-Eve Breton in St Zotique in Quebec’s Vaudreuil-Soulanges area, Liquidation Marie is a unique discount food store that specializes in a wide selection of surplus grocery items ranging from meats and cheeses, confectionary items, pet foods, drinks, etc. sourced from close‑outs, and unsold products from major brands that are then resold at a fraction of the regular price. The popular chain ended 2025 with seven locations in and around the Montreal area and launched 2026 with a 12,000 square foot location on 5 rue Industrielle in Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan in Montreal’s North Shore area. Then, later this week, an 8200 square foot location will open at 829 rue Papineau in Joliette. Two more locations, a 7500 square foot unit at 20 rue Simonds Nord and Granby and a 7000 square foot unit at 888 boul. Yvon-L’Heureux Nord in Belœil, are scheduled to open in Spring. Mathieu Tessier at Pro Immobilier has been retained to handle the site selection and notes that the chain is now seeking units in the 6500 to 12,000 square foot range in the major and secondary markets across Quebec. Preferred sites include freestanding buildings or high‑visibility end‑cap units with easy access and ample parking in dense residential areas or regional retail hubs. Several more locations are currently under review.
