Manitoba in the Spring……….

UNIQLO, the growing apparel retailer owned by Fast Retailing Co. Ltd., the Japanese retail holding company based in Tokyo, has announced that it is opening its first Winnipeg location at CF Polo Park Mall in the Spring. The 18,500 square foot location is in part of the former Sears, near the food court, on the mall’s upper level.  The store will offer the current LifeWear lineup for men, women, kids, and babies, seasonal collaborations, and the UT, its range of graphic T-shirts, plus other items.  Like is stores worldwide, the new Winnipeg store is part of a UNIQLO global business model that seamlessly combines its world-class shopping and service experience with complementary convenience of its uniqlo.com online store.  In late 2025, CTV News also reported that Uniqlo will be opening a location in part of the space left vacant by The Bay in the St Vital Centre in south central Winnipeg.  It is about 15,000 square feet and is expected to open shortly after the Polo Park location.   Today, UNIQLO has over 2,500 stores worldwide, and having opened about eight stores in Canada in 2025, there are about 37 stores in Canada. Generally, the stores operate in 15,000 to 40,000 square foot mall and high street locations. Jeff Berkowitz at Aurora Retail Group is handling the site selection for the chain’s Canadian expansion.
