Launched in Alberta’s Banff resort area, Big Bear Trading Co is a specialty concept that features a selection of branded mountain-inspired apparel and gifts. Its curated selection of merchandise includes outerwear, hoodies, t-shirts, etc. for men and women as well as a kids’ selection that also includes the mountain-inspired plush animals. In addition, the five-year-old lifestyle adventure brand’s gift selection stretches from blankets and books to tote bags and jewelry. In recognition of its retail strategy and in-store experience, Big Bear Trading Co. was named a finalist in the 2023 Retail Council of Canada ‘Excellence in Retailing Awards,’ reflecting its growing reputation and retail footprint. With three locations, in Banff, Canmore and Whistler, along with a growing online component, Big Bear Trading is planning retail store growth targeting Canadian tourist areas. Presently the chain is finalizing a new location in downtown Montreal’s Old Port area. Manon Larose and Michelle Marcotte-Blart at Oberfeld Snowcap have been retained to handle the site selection in Quebec, targeting high profile 1500 to 2500 square foot units.
