In late December, franchisees Madu Ramesh and Chrishan Para opened a Good Earth Coffeehouse on Queen St. East in the new 17-storey Queen & Ash Bridge condominium development near the Beaches area in east downtown Toronto. A grand opening is scheduled for January 24th to celebrate the brand 54th coffeehouse in Canada and sixth in greater Toronto. Introduced in Calgary in 1991 by Nan Eskenazi and Michael Going, Good Earth Coffeehouse is a network of authentic coffeehouses focused on providing unique customer experiences through the combination of a distinct coffeehouse environment with social and environmental responsibility. The chain continues to focus on expansion in Toronto, southwestern Ontario, the B.C. Lower Mainland, and Halifax to provide the chain and its franchisees, opportunities to grow, prosper, and serve the needs of communities. Good Earth has retained several companies to assist with identifying and securing sites. Doug Basarovich at Greenwood Realty and Stan Boniferro are handling the search in BC’s Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island, Michael Kehoe of Fairfield Commercial Real Estate is responsible for the Prairies, and Warren Smagaren of Warren E Smagaren Consulting is responsible for the greater Toronto area, Southwestern Ontario and the Halifax market. Franchising since 2005, Good Earth features ethically sourced coffee and fresh food served in an inviting coffeehouse environment, generally in a 1600 to 1800 square foot range with patios. In addition to new locations, Good Earth Coffeehouse has kicked off the New Year with some new seasonal Winter drinks. Rooted in traditional coffeehouse offerings from around the world, with sweet, salty, and sophisticated twists, these new Winter beverages include a Salted Sweet Cream Americano and an Iced Salted Sweet Cream Americano, both bold Americanos, inspired by Vietnamese coffee, and a Coconut Oat Matcha, a smooth matcha and creamy oat milk with a dose of coconut syrup.
