In late January 2026, Dave’s Hot Chicken opened a 1900 square foot location at the Willow Park redevelopment project at 10640 Macleod Trail SE in southeast Calgary. It is the chain’s 15th location in Canada and several more are in the works. Another location is scheduled to open in Calgary, one in Edmonton and two in BC’s Lower Mainland and the chain continues to source sites across Canada, mainly in major markets such as Vancouver Lower Mainland including Burnaby, Coquitlam, Port Moody, Langley, Richmond and Chilliwack, as well as Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Ottawa, and the Greater Toronto Area. Introduced in an East Hollywood parking lot in 2017, Dave’s Hot Chicken features a menu specializing in jumbo-sized chicken tenders, sliders, and Nashville-style chicken, hand-breaded and spiced-to-order at various spice levels ranging from No Spice to Reaper, along with sides of house-made sides. Franchising since 2019, the quick casual Dave’s Hot Chicken concept presently operates about 380 locations, most in the U.S. and the company has sold the franchise rights for over 1000 restaurants in North America and the Middle East. In early 2021, Toronto-based Obelysk Foods Ltd. acquired the rights to operate the chain in Canada and opened its first Canadian location in Toronto’s Parkdale area. Continued expansion is anticipated, both east and west, and Dave’s Hot Chicken looks for locations between 2,200 and 2,800 square feet. Ideally pads locations or end cap units in major retail nodes with or without drive-thrus are targeted. Stefan Safrata at Marcus & Millichap has been retained to handle the site selection for Dave’s Hot Chicken in Western Canada and Brandon Gorman at Jones Lang LaSalle is handling the site selection in Southwestern Ontario.
