Founded in Toronto in 1968, MR.SUB stands as Canada’s original home-grown sub sandwich chain. Jack Levinson and Earl Linzon launched the quick service Mr Submarine concept at 130 Yorkville Ave in Toronto’s Yorkville, the centre of Canada’s music, artist and hippie culture at the time. Five decades later, after a rebranding to MR SUB in 1990 and joining the MTY Food Group in late 2011, the quick service chain now counts over 200 franchise locations across Canada featuring its daily, freshly baked bread, fresh vegetable toppings, meats and sauces to personalize each selection. Poised for growth, Mr Sub anticipates adding ten to 15 new locations during 2026, focusing on the Ontario, Atlantic provinces and Western Canada markets. The brand is actively seeking franchisees and suitable sites in street and plaza sites.  Street front corners and plaza end cap sites are welcomed. Units in the 800 to 1400 square foot range are preferred with 1100 square feet being ideal. MTY Food’s Billy Maniatis is handling the site selection for Quebec and Atlantic Canada markets, Ryan Grant is responsible for Ontario and Manitoba and Adam Al-Ahmad is handling the Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia markets.
