Signs are up and Tony Roma’s is expected to return to Calgary shortly. The casual dining restaurant brand, best known for its signature ribs, is opening its ‘Legendary Grill’ format in the former supper club at 601-8th Ave SW in downtown Calgary. Founded in 1972 in North Miami, Florida, the concept quickly built a loyal following for its slow-cooked baby back ribs, basted in house-made sauces and served in generous portions. Positioned as a family-friendly dining experience, the brand emphasizes quality ingredients, consistent preparation, and service. Over the decades, through franchising and international partnerships Tony Roma’s has expanded well beyond the United States, developing a strong global footprint with locations across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. Currently there are four Tony Roma’s locations in Alberta, two in Winnipeg in Manitoba and one in Thunder Bay in Ontario. The chain’s Legendary Grill format is generally in the 3000 square foot range.
