In late September 2025, the global general merchandise retailer Panda Mart opened its first location in Canada, a 120,000 square foot store at 768 Warden Ave., just north of Comstock Rd, in Scarborough. With the success of this first location, the chain is now planning expansion throughout the GTA. Originating in South Africa in 2010, Panda Mart offers a selection of over, 50,000 items, including everyday essentials, home goods, and lifestyle categories such as cookware, electronics, etc. at low prices. Panda Mart has about 40 locations in over a dozen countries. With its initial focus on the GTA, Panda Mart is seeking sites in the 60,000 to 100,000 square foot range in busy shopping centres and conveniently located freestanding sites.
