Mercatto Hospitality, the Toronto-based Italian restaurant group established in 1998 and with four full services restaurants in Toronto, is expanding beyond the city with its new Mercatto Centrale in Mississauga’s Port Credit neighbourhood. Known for its dedication to authentic Italian cuisine infused with contemporary flair, Mercatto has operated four distinct dining concepts in downtown Toronto for over 25 years, each celebrating different dimensions of Italian culinary heritage and culture. The new Mercatto Centrale location, an 8500 square foot location with interior and exterior seating for almost 300 guests, is expected to open mid-March at the base of the new mixed-use Brightwater II on Missinnihe Way in Mississauga’s Port Credit area, according to reports from the INsauga online local news. Mercatto notes that each of its restaurants is designed to celebrate different facets of Italian heritage.
