Fort Lauderdale-based lawyer Shahmeer Alam and physician Yves Jodesty have signed a franchise agreement with Texas-based Layne’s Chicken Fingers to open 15 new locations across Fort Lauderdale, Broward, Miami and Palm Beach County in South Florida. Their plan is to open one or two locations each year. “Our goal is to be the number one South Florida franchise for Layne’s,” said Alam. “We have a large market consisting of Miami, Broward and Palm Beach County and ultimately, we’d like to take that market and build onto the rest of the state if we’re able to.” This is part of the quick service chicken franchise’s plan to reach 100 units across the country within the next four years. Founded in 1994 in College Station in East Texas featuring a menu of chicken fingers and a secret sauce. Today, that menu also includes twists on classic fried chicken fare, including a three-finger chicken sandwich served on Texas toast, a fried chicken club sandwich with bacon and cheddar and of course, chicken fingers served with addictive sauces like buttermilk ranch, honey mustard, BBQ and Layne’s, a tangy, zesty in-house creation that has become a go-to among loyal customers. Presently there are about twelve restaurants in Texas, one each in West Virigina and Pennsylvania and over 100 sold by 2025. The quick service restaurant is generally opens in inline units and end caps with drive-thrus. The size required is in the 2200 square foot range.
