2nd Restaurant, 1st Franchise……….

The second Bombay Frankies and first franchise location has just opened in PenEquity Realty Corp’s Kanata Entertainment Centre in Ottawa’s Kanata suburb and later in August, the chain’s third location is scheduled to open in First Capital REIT’s Harwood Plaza on Harwood Ave. South in Ajax. Bombay Frankies is a quick casual restaurant concept that features a chef-inspired Indian street food menu created around the frankie, a popular burrito-style flatbread wrap, popular in Bombay, now known as Mumbai in India. Newmarket-based restaurant company Eat Up Canada and Celebrity Chef, Restaurateur, and TV Personality Vikram Vij formed a partnership to launch the concept last year.  The first Bombay Frankies opened in October 2022 in East Gwillimbury/Newmarket community north of Toronto and George Heos, Co-Founders of Eat Up Canada, adds that with more openings scheduled for Etobicoke and Burlington in the Fall, the chain will end the year with five locations. And units are already scheduled for Ottawa’s Barrhaven area and Airport Rd. in Mississauga in early 2024. With franchise interest from various markets, both in Ontario and outside, the chain continues to target highly visible units in the 1000 to 1800 square foot range with traffic and convenient access.  Mike Sabetti at CBRE Ltd. is handling the chain’s site selection in Ontario and Heos is handling the search outside of the province.  Heos added that a search is also underway for locations between 3,000 and 5,000 square feet to accommodate three of the Eat Up Canada brands including Bombay Frankies, Pokeworks and a new chicken concept that will be announced shortly.
