BarNaan Street Kitchen is a quick service Indian street food concept that was introduced in Kitchener in Southwestern Ontario in September 2022. Introduced by Alex Shtein and his barBurrito Restaurants group, the concept features a blend of traditional bowls and entrees in combination with creative menu items developed in-house. Vice-President Real Estate Ken Opper notes that the company is now planning to roll-out the concept with primary interest on the Ontario and British Columbia markets. “It may take a year or two to reach the velocity of barBurrito openings, but we aim to sign 20 to 30 barNaan deals this year, with established barBurrito franchisees keen to add storefronts in either brand,” said Opper. BarNaan Street Kitchen restaurants will operate in highly visible units of approximately 1200 square feet in grocery-anchored strips and power centres. In addition, locations with a university or college proximity are targeted. Like the barBurrito restaurants, Opper is handling the chains’ real estate requirements and Chief Business Development Officer Jeff Young is responsible for franchise growth.
