Acquiring Ottawa Coffeehouses……

Toronto-based Pilot Coffee Group has entered into an agreement to acquire the assets of the Bridgehead roasting, wholesale and coffeehouse business for $3.5-million(Cdn).   Bridgehead (2000) Inc is the wholly owned subsidiary of Aegis Brands Inc.  The transaction has been approved by the directors of Aegis Brands and a special resolution of Bridgehead and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2024. Bridgehead operates over 20 coffeehouses in the Ottawa area.   “Bridgehead and Pilot Coffee Roasters share the same core values of offering customers world-leading specialty coffee and giving back into the communities in which they serve, both locally and globally,” said Bruce Miller, CEO of Pilot Coffee Roasters.  “With Bridgehead’s focus on organic coffee, it will strengthen even more our exceptional range of specialty coffee products and services to our customers across Canada. We look forward to continuing to build on the legacy of both trusted brands and delivering exceptional coffee experiences to all our customers as we embark on this new journey together.”   Introduced in Toronto’s Leslieville neighbourhood in 2009 and rebranded as Pilot Coffee Roasters in 2013, Pilot Coffee is a full-service roastery, cold brewery, training provider and cafe operator that also has wholesale accounts across the country.  Presently there are eleven Pilot cafes in the greater Toronto area.  Steven Pelton, President and CEO of Aegis Brands added that this strategic divestiture allows Aegis Brands to build on the momentum of its St. Louis brand and its new Wing City spinoff brand.
