Gemstone Grass Fed Beef is an Alberta-based, family-owned beef producer operated by the Doerksen family in Gem, approximately 150 kilometres east of Calgary. Established as a direct-to-consumer brand in 2018, the company specializes in premium grass-finished beef raised on a forage-only diet, without added hormones or routine antibiotic use. Its products include steaks, roasts, ground beef, sausages, deli meats, organ meats and prepared foods. Gemstone sells through its online store, offering Alberta-wide delivery and pickup, and operates a butcher shop and Gemstone Kitchen at Calgary Farmers’ Market West. Gemstone is now looking to expand from its present market to a new retail location that will incorporate a butchery and a restaurant.
