Development company Groupe Robin reports that the region’s first Mayrand Food Depot will open as part of its District 55 mixed-use development in Trois-Rivieres. Operated under Empire Company, the grocery banner combines warehouse-style value with the convenience of a neighbourhood market, offering bulk products, everyday groceries and specialty items for families, food enthusiasts, restaurateurs and businesses. The unit will be strategically located near the Laviolette Bridge at the entrance to District 55, where additional neighbourhood services, including a pharmacy, are also planned. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026, with the building expected to open in Summer 2027. The addition addresses a need frequently expressed by local residents while strengthening District 55’s position as a leading commercial destination in the Mauricie region. It joins an expanding roster of retailers including Decathlon, Latulippe, Ameublements Tanguay, Adrénaline Urbaine and numerous restaurants, hotels and entertainment venues. “From day one, we have developed District 55 with one conviction: a true community is built one partner at a time,” said Groupe Robin President Nellie Robin. “Every business we welcome must meaningfully improve the daily lives of our residents. The arrival of this grocery market marks a pivotal milestone in that vision and confirms that District 55 is becoming a unique destination where people can live, work, enjoy themselves, and now shop for groceries—all within the same neighbourhood.” District 55 is a large-scale master-planned mixed-use community in Trois-Rivières, a community located about halfway between Montreal and Quebec City. Developed by Groupe Robin, the project is designed as a complete live-work-play destination, integrating residential neighbourhoods, retail, restaurants, offices, hotels, healthcare, and recreational amenities. The commercial component in Groupe Robin’s District 55 in Trois-Rivières covers about 700,000 square feet.
