Andy Huynh and Justin Tanada introduced Cowabunga Pizzeria in Hamilton in Southern Ontario in 2020 with a focus on artisan techniques, premium ingredients, and carefully crafted signature dough. Initially opened on Upper Wellington St. in the Hamilton Mountain area as a takeout concept, in early 2023, a larger Cowabunga + location with seating was added on Vine St in downtown Hamilton. In early 2024, Cowabunga attracted international recognition after earning honours for its cheese pizza at a prestigious pizza competition in Las Vegas, further elevating its profile beyond Hamilton. The chain is now seeking expansion opportunities and has retained Ori Grad and Christian Petronio at CHI Real Estate Group to handle the search. Currently Cowabunga is seeking 2500 square foot high traffic street front locations in the downtown Toronto west area as well as street front, plaza and open centre locations in Burlington and Oakville. Second generation or built-out units are preferred.
