In late June, The Cookie Jar opens its second location, a 1529 square foot inline unit at Bedford Commons in Bedford, a community in the Halifax Regional Municipality. Another concept that came about due to the pandemic, The Cookie Jar started as an online concept introduced by Gabrielle Leger from her home near Dieppe in southeastern New Brunswick. In 2021, she opened a permanent location on Principale-Ouest Ave at Dieppe Blvd in Dieppe serving over 20 flavours of fresh baked stuffed gourmet cookies, brownies and cinnamon rolls.
Tim Bourque at Plaza REIT notes that with this addition, the 174,500 square foot Bedford Commons open centre at Damescus Rd, just off the Bicentennial Hwy in Bedford, is fully leased. Bedford is a growing community about 16 kilometres northwest of Halifax. The centre is shadow-anchored by Walmart and Canadian Tire.
