In mid-October, the third corporately owned Patagonia store in Canada opened in the former Lakehouse Home Store in downtown Kelowna in B.C. The 1756 square foot location at Bernard Ave and Ellis St features the brand’s premium outdoor apparel and equipment specializing in high-performance clothing and gear for activities including hiking, climbing, skiing, surfing, trail running and everyday wear. Patagonia’s product range includes jackets, fleeces, shirts, pants, shorts, wetsuits, backpacks and outdoor accessories for men, women and children. The company distinguishes itself through a strong commitment to environmental responsibility, durable product design and responsible business practices. The company encourages customers to extend product life through repairs, reuse and recycling, helping reduce waste and resource consumption. Its Worn Wear initiative supports the resale and continued use of pre-owned apparel. The company operates retail stores and sells through its website and authorized dealers. Patagonia also supports grassroots environmental organizations and promotes conservation, positioning the brand as a leader in sustainable outdoor retail. Introduced in the early 1970s in Ventura in California by climbing enthusiast Yvon Chouinard, Patagona has over 100 corporate stores worldwide. The first store in Canada opened in late 2010 on King St West in Toronto and in late 2015 it opened on West 4th Ave in Vancouver’s Kitsilano neighbourhood. The company has previously outlined long-term plans for North Carolina in the U.S. Several franchises or independently-owned stores are also in Canada.
