Following the opening of its first store in Londonderry Mall in Edmonton in late 2025, in early June 2026, Zellers announced its initial Ontario with the opening of a 25,000 square foot freestanding location at 80 Orfus Rd in North York that opened in mid-June. A location opens later in July in the Tecumseh Mall in Windsor and couple of more locations are expected to follow later this year. Zellers is broadening its merchandise offering at its new stores, expanding beyond its core apparel, accessories, home and seasonal categories. New additions include enhanced home décor and linens featuring brands such as Maxwell & Williams, Casa Domani, Rachel Roy, Tahari and Chaps, along with a curated toy selection, seasonal merchandise, party supplies, stationery, luggage and Halloween products. The retailer is also introducing snacks, beverages and specialty grocery items, including Italian products from Gigi. Its apparel lineup will grow with brands including Adidas, NFL, NHL, Dickies, Von Dutch and Juicy Couture, while Disney merchandise and exclusive Zellers-branded products will also expand. In addition, Zellers is reviving its iconic mascot Zeddy with new plush bears. Zellers is planning additional expansion of the small format department store concept targeting densely populated areas across Canada. The target stores are in a 20,000 to 30,000 square foot range, designed to provide an easy-to-shop, discovery-driven environment rooted in affordability, accessibility, and community connection. Anchor positions in enclosed malls are preferred and interior and exterior access is required. Jessie Putre at Oberfeld Snowcap is handling the site selection for Zellers.
