Earlier in the week, Warehouse One, The Jean Store opened a new 2806 square foot location in Seaway Mall in Welland in Ontario’s Niagara region. Introduced in the mid-1970s in Winnipeg, Warehouse One is an apparel retailer specializing in affordable, casual fashion with a strong focus on denim. The brand has built a loyal customer base by offering inclusive sizing and everyday wardrobe essentials for men and women. With over 120 stores across Canada, Warehouse One is undergoing significant ownership changes and its new leadership team. The chain is now owned by Warehouse One Clothing Ltd. and Parian Logistics Inc has been retained as the third party responsible for distribution, real estate, etc. Parian Logistics’ National Director, Real Estate Services Debra McVeety reports that the Seaway Mall opening is the first of four new locations for Warehouse One this quarter. By mid-April, stores are opening in Burlington Mall in Burlington and in the Outlet Collection Winnipeg and in early May at the Royalty Crossing in Charlottetown in PEI. The search continues for opportunities, ideally 2600 to 4000 square foot units in regional, super-regional, community and power centres.
With the opening at Seaway Mall, president Mike Belcastro adds that there are two remaining vacancies in the mall, a 2117 square foot unit and a 2569 square foot location. The suggested uses include apparel, gifts and footwear. Seaway Mall is a 500,000 square foot enclosed mall on Niagara St at Woodlawn Rd. in Welland. In addition to the Cineplex theatres, the mall includes a large selection of regional and national retailers including SportChek, Staples, Hart, Dollarama, etc.
