Zellers is accelerating its Canadian comeback with the announcement of its first Ontario locations, a 25,000 square foot standalone store at Orfus Rd. in Toronto later in June and a store at Tecumseh Mall in Windsor in July. The expansion follows the launch of the first new standalone Zellers store at Londonderry Mall in Edmonton in October 2025, which generated strong customer traffic, sales, and engagement. According to Zellers COO Joey Benitah, customer feedback from the Edmonton location has helped shape the retailer’s evolving merchandise mix and shopping experience. The company plans to celebrate each opening with nostalgic in-store experiences that honour the brand’s legacy while introducing a refreshed retail concept. The Ontario stores will feature Zellers’ traditional core categories, including apparel, accessories, home décor, and seasonal merchandise, while significantly expanding product offerings. New additions will include enhanced home and lifestyle collections, toys, party supplies, stationery, luggage, specialty grocery products, snacks, and seasonal items. The retailer is also broadening its brand assortment with additions such as Adidas, NFL, NHL, Dickies, Von Dutch, and Juicy Couture, along with a larger Disney collection. Limited-edition Zellers-branded merchandise will also be introduced, reinforcing the company’s strategy of combining nostalgia with a modern, value-focused shopping experience for Canadian consumers. Zellers confirms it is in active discussions with multiple landlords across the country and expects to announce additional locations in Ontario and beyond over the coming year, as it continues its phased national rollout. The Zellers stores will operate in the 20,000 to 30,000 square foot range in malls and Jessie Putre at Oberfeld Snowcap has been retained to handle the search.
