Over twenty years ago, Ray Russell introduced the quick service Freshslice Pizza concept in Vancouver. And in early November, the chain of takeout and delivery restaurants opened its 100th location. The milestone location is a 1200 square foot location at the Valley Centre at 20151 Fraser Hwy in Langley in Metro Vancouver. Freshslice Pizza is franchise chain that features a menu of pizza, lasagna, wings, salads, etc. and in keeping up with the healthier eating trends, it also offers alternatives such as multigrain crusts, low-fat mozzarella and unique selections of low-calorie sauces. Aside from buying a whole pie, clients can select from a number of ‘slice’ combos as well. Presently there are over 75 locations throughout British Columbia along with locations in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario as well as the Northwest Territories. Director of Marketing Surj Uppal adds that the chain is in the midst of an aggressive expansion program and with expansion both in Canada and the United States, the chain expects to double in size by the end of 2024. With its unique franchise model in which it offers franchisees no royalty fees and no advertising fees, the chain continues to source operators and suitable site in Canada and area developers in California, Nevada and Florida are establishing operations and searching out potential franchise partners in those areas. The initial U.S. locations will open as soon as possible. The traditional Freshslice pizzerias operate in a variety of high traffic sites including urban street fronts, power centre and strip plaza locations. The size required is in the 600 to 1600 square foot range.
