Higher Learning for Bagels……

Brooklyn Water Bagel, the Boynton Beach, Florida-based quick-casual restaurant known for authentic New York-style bagels, premium coffee and its 14-step water filtration process, has opened its first campus location at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale in South Florida. Located in the Terry Building’s new dining complex, the restaurant is designed to serve the needs of students, faculty and staff with convenient breakfast, lunch and coffee options. The restaurant operates in partnership with Chartwells Higher Education, part of Compass Group. The Nova Southeastern location is Brooklyn Water Bagel’s first non-traditional Florida location and could lead to expansion into universities, airports, stadiums, military bases and medical complexes. “Having a presence on college campuses makes a lot of sense for the brand,” said CEO Dan Smith. “Nova Southeastern gives us an opportunity to serve a completely different audience with varying needs and dining habits. We see significant potential to grow in universities and other high-traffic areas where convenience, quality and a strong guest experience truly matter.” Introduced in Delray Beach in 2009, Brooklyn Water Bagel is a chain of about 20 locations in Florida featuring bagels boiled in ‘Brooklynized’ water and then baked fresh daily at the stores.
