Invests $19-M on Entertainment Wing…….

Primaris REIT is investing $19 million(Cdn) to transform the former La Baie department store at Les Galeries de la Capitale in Quebec City into a new retail, restaurant and entertainment wing, according to reports in Le Journal de Quebec.  The first level will feature a nearly 30,500 square foot Imaginaire store, the Quebec-based retailer’s largest location, scheduled to open in Spring 2027.  The second level will accommodate a mix of retailers and restaurants, including the Mirabel-based restaurant-bar chain ZIBO!, which currently has eight locations in the Greater Montreal/Laval Area.  The redevelopment will also include a new exterior entrance and washrooms, with spaces delivered progressively throughout 2027.  The project is the first redevelopment of this scale since Primaris acquired the shopping centre in October 2024, following La Baie’s closure in June 2025. The centre is also considering a potential rental housing development, while a planned $1-million, 18-hole mini-golf attraction near Méga Parc is expected to open next Fall. Discussions continue with prospective tenants for the former Toys R Us space.
