In December, Sunset Grill Restaurants opened its first location in the U.S., in a new development at S. Fort Apache Rd. at W. Maule Ave. in southwest Las Vegas. The location is in the Spring Valley community just west of the Las Vegas Strip. In addition to continued expansion in Canada, the franchise chain is now looking to expand across select markets in the United States. Angelo Christou launched the Sunset Grill Restaurants in 1985 in Toronto’s Beaches area. The concept features a California-style atmosphere reminiscent of Don Henley’s popular ‘Sunset Grill’ hit song in 1984. The full-service breakfast and lunch restaurants serves the all-day traditional bacon and eggs dishes as well as breakfast sandwiches, omelets, pancakes, waffles, fresh-made burgers, etc. Sunset Grill concentrates on high traffic and highly visible street locations in addition to freestanding pad sites and end caps with patio, where possible. Street units require 1,000 to 1,500 square feet with basement areas while pad units require approximately 2,200 square feet. Currently there are over 100 Sunset Grill locations in Canada with locations in Huntsville in the Muskoka area north of Toronto and in the Kanata suburb west of Ottawa scheduled to open in the Spring and in the Keele St. and Lawrence Ave. area in Toronto’s North York in the Summer.
