Global lifestyle brand Roots opened a new store at Vancouver International Airport last week, marking the latest milestone of the brand’s growing travel retail expansion. The store is operated in partnership with travel retailer Hudson, part of Avolta. “Our product assortment is uniquely suited for comfort and travel, making airports a natural extension of our retail strategy,” said Roots’ President, CEO Meghan Roach. “Opening at YVR allows us to connect with both Canadian and international travelers at a key global gateway, building on our longstanding success of serving consumers in tourism and travel destinations.” Located in an 808 square foot unit at Gate E88 in the U.S. Departures Terminal after security, the product assortment at the Roots YVR store includes top-selling apparel and accessories like the iconic Original Sweats, Vancouver graphic fleece and T-shirts, Made in Canada collections, and novelty accessories such as Beaver stuffies, keychains and signature Cabin socks. Select styles from the Vancouver graphic fleece and T-shirt collections are exclusive to this location. Roots will be exploring additional travel retail opportunities across Canada. Roots has over 100 corporate retail stores in Canada, two in the United States, in street front, outlets and shopping centres in the 1000 to 3000 square foot range. In addition, there are more than 100 partner-operated stores in Asia and a dedicated Roots-branded storefront on Tmall.com eCommerce site in China. Hudson, a subsidiary of Avolta, operates over 1,000 travel retail stores in nearly 90 airports, commuter hubs, landmarks, and tourist destinations across North America.
