In the second half of 2025, performance apparel, footwear and accessory manufacturer and retailer Under Armour open its ‘Factory Stores’ at Windsor Commons in Windsor, Millstream Shopping Centre in Victoria in BC and Centre on Barton in Hamilton. In January 2026, it opens at the Sunrise Shopping Centre on Ottawa St South in Kitchener. Ryan McGrath at Streetscape Retail handles the site selection for Under Armour in Canada and adds that discussions are underway for another location in 2026 and there is a continued interested in new opportunities across the country, targeting 8,000 to 12,000 square foot Factory Store locations, depending on market and location. Originally launched in the late 1990s as a t-shirt line designed to keep athletes cool, dry and light, the Under Armour sportswear lines evolved, adding footwear in 2006 and available in several regional and national sporting goods chains. In 2007, the company opened its first ‘Brand House’ retail store in Annapolis in Maryland and in late 2019, Under Armour opened its first standalone retail store in Canada, a Brand House in Toronto. With the latest ‘Factory House’ opening in Windsor, the Baltimore, Maryland-based company now counts about 30 Under Armour Brand House stores, generally in the regional malls, and larger Under Armour Factory House stores, across Canada. The Under Armour line is also carried in several sporting goods and specialty chains across the country. The Under Armour Brand House format is generally in the regional malls in the 3000 to 4000 square foot range.
