In the Fall, discount grocery concept Liquidation Marie will open its largest location to date, a 15,000 square foot location at Brasswater’s Mega Centre Saint Jerome in the Saint Jerome community about 45 kilometres northwest of Montreal. Liquidation Marie is a unique discount food store that specializes in a wide selection of surplus grocery items ranging from meats and cheeses, confectionary items, pet foods, drinks, etc. sourced from closeouts, and unsold products from major brands that are then resold at a fraction of the regular price. Introduced in 2012 by Marie-Eve Breton in St Zotique in Quebec’s Vaudreuil-Soulanges area, the growing chain presently has 14 locations operating in southern Quebec. Mega Centre Saint Jerome is an open centre at Boul Jeam Baptiste-Rolland West and Boul Grand Heron, adjacent to Hwy 15 in Saint Jerome. Shadow-anchored by a Costco Wholesale, the centre is about 190,000 square feet anchored by RONA along with Bureau en Gros. Brasswater’s leasing director Jordan Katz reports that with the addition of the discount grocer, an inline 5077 square foot unit remains available for immediate occupancy. Retail or entertainment uses that cater to young families are targeted. Located in the centre of Saint Jerome, the centre’s trade area includes over 131,000 people with an average age of about 42-years.
