On Saturday, April 18th, International sports fashion retailer JD Sports made its entry into Canada’s Atlantic market with its first store in Champlain Place in the Dieppe community just west of Moncton in New Brunswick. The 5500 square foot inline location is the chains 37th store in Canada following openings in CF Toronto Eaton Centre in Toronto and CF Fairview Pointe Claire in Montreal’s West Island earlier this year. Over 40-year-old, JD Sports is a sports fashion, multichannel retailer of branded sports and casual wear based in Manchester in the U.K. The chain features globally recognized brands such as Nike, adidas, Puma and The North Face, along with strong own-brand labels such as Pink Soda and Supply & Demand. The chain entered the Canadian market in Fall 2021. Jordan Karp at Savills Canada handles the chain’s site selection in Canada and notes that multiple new store openings are set for 2026 and the chain continues to look at opportunities across Canada. JD Sports stores are generally in a 6000 to 10,000 square foot range while flagship units can be up to 15,000 square feet.
