Plans More International Growth……..
Plans More International Growth……..Fast Retailing Co. Ltd., the Tokyo-based multinational retail holding company, owner of the UNIQLO global chain of fashion stores, has revised its full-year outlook upwards, after posting strong interim results for the six months ended in late February 2016, led by performance at UNIQLO International. The overseas division posted a 22.4 percent revenue increase driven by strong demand, particularly in Western markets. Reflecting the momentum, the company raised its full-year operating profit forecast and said it sees significant room for further global growth. UNIQLO will continue its international expansion, opening more flagship and large format stores. Last week, the chain announced the opening of its first store in Winnipeg in Manitoba on May 15th, 2026. The 18,250 square foot location is in part of the former Sears location near the food court, on the mall’s upper level. The store will offer the current LifeWear lineup for men, women, kids, and babies, seasonal collaborations, and the UT, its range of graphic T-shirts, plus other items. It was also reported earlier this year that UNIQLO will be opening a location in part of the space left vacant by The Bay in the St Vital Centre in south central Winnipeg. It is about 15,000 square feet and is expected to open shortly later in 2026. Presently, UNIQLO has over 2,500 stores worldwide, and having opened about eight stores in Canada in 2025, there are over 35 stores in Canada. Generally, the stores operate in 15,000 to 40,000 square foot mall and high street locations. Jeff Berkowitz at Aurora Retail Group is handling the site selection for the chain’s Canadian expansion.
