After celebrating its 50th anniversary last year, experiential fondue franchise Melting Pot entered 2026 with strong momentum. In the first quarter, the 93-unit fondue franchise saw a major lift around Valentine’s Day and recorded its highest-ever donation following its 22nd year participating in St Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s annual Thanks & Giving campaign. Last year was the 22nd year the brand participated in St. Jude’s campaign and donated a record $1,278,308 to the hospital. “Our Q1 performance is the result of a brand that continues to push forward,” said CEO John ‘JC’ Crawford. “Whether it’s unit-level performance or systemwide philanthropic impact, Melting Pot is stronger than ever, and we’re incredibly optimistic as we step into our next 50 years of operations.” Earlier this year, the Melting Pot franchise launched a strategic push to expand its footprint across Canada identifying Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Ottawa as core hubs for expansion. The Melting Pot team is looking to partner with qualified entrepreneurs who are intimately familiar with the hospitality landscape in Canada to open between one and five new restaurants by 2030. Presently there is one Melting Pot restaurant in Edmonton serving a variety of fondue cooking styles and unique entrées. The menu also features cheese fondues, salads, fine wines, spirits and chocolate fondue desserts. The Melting Pot restaurants are generally in a 4000 to 5500 square foot range, often in open suburban centres. As the brand continues building momentum, in the United States it is targeting strategic expansion in Des Moines in Iowa, Birmingham in Alabama, Memphis in Tennessee, Boston in Massachusetts and Fort Wayne in Indiana.
